When designing, I aim at the highest standards of minimalist aesthetics and ingenuity, sometimes exceeding my own expectations. The Wow! section presents some of these pieces I consider my best.
An unusual proposal leading to a remarkable piece. Traditionally, the mezuzah is mounted tilted on the doorpost interrupting the vertical flow of the lines. The Schaechter Mezuzah's design proposes a vertical mezuzah with a pre tilted scroll. This is one of the most brilliant and elegant designs of the studio.
The illusion that Reflections is transparent is the main design motif of this work. The 5 elements of this hanukkiah rotate and come apart in order to create awesome compositions. A multifunctional work: hanukkiah, candlesticks, candelabra or centerpiece.
A provoking art block divided in two almost identical halves that may compose a hanukkiah, several sculptures and not surprisingly a second horizontal hanukkiah. Brilliant in its simplicity! One of the artist’s favorites - the only work at the designer's home (the others, he cannot afford…).
A tribute to childhood memories. The two silhouettes , an abstraction of traditional candlesticks, one positive the other negative complement each other. A powerful fusion of function and art.
Intersecting planes creating a vortex movement. A timeless design.
The design is sober, clean, unrevealing. Turning the base will expose the customised inscription on the top of the protruding slices. A minimalist design executed with a superbly engineered mechanism.
By solving the issue of storage space when the plate is not in use, the design presents an awesome and surprising object . The inscription hints of its function.
The intention of the design by folding the mahogany board is to save storage space or to provide an elegant way to display the piece without showing the cutting scratches on the internal surface.
